Halloween... is not what it used to be.

We handed out candy on Halloween... and I was really disappointed at first.
The first kids to come around was a group of ~10 year old boys in hoodies and jeans. I gave them one piece of candy each and asked why they didn't have costumes. The leader spoke up and said, "We're skateboarders" To which all the others said, "Yeah... skateboarders."
Right. Those little SOBs wear that to school. I wish I had that hard nasty bubblegum to give them. They got starbursts... they didn't deserve starbursts.
The second group of kids was ~14. I don't remember what the boys were... because I couldn't believe the girls. There were two of them dressed as Bumblebees... the slutty bees. Thigh high striped socks with short skirts barely covering their bums... their little flat chests struggling to keep up the halter top. Re-friggin'-diculous. ONE PIECE OF CANDY!

Then we got some cute ones. A little homemade lion (CUTE! 5 pieces of candy). A skeleton with full face paint... Handfull of candy!
The adorable little girl ~3 or 4 who came up dressed as a cute little lady bug. She had a coat on, so you couldn't see anything but the poof of skirt coming out. She had a cute little voice and looked back at her parents before saying, "trick or treat". I told her she was the cutest little ladybug... and gave her two handfulls of candy (it was almost the end of trick or treating anyway). She looked all happy and started to turn to move on... then turned back and said, "thank you" all tiny and cute. *melt* I wanted to call her back and give her all the candy.

So Halloween ended up pretty good. When I'm a parent and have older kids... they don't go out trick or treating without a costume. You need to earn your candy by being cute/scary/entertaining. Skateboarders my ass...

The Power of LOVE!!!

Rob and I saw Huey Lewis and the News at Common Ground this week... SO AWESOME! The Power of Love was the song we played when we entered our reception after getting married. The choice came to Rob in a dream... he just woke up singing it after we had been trying to think of a song for a few days.
So yeah... we love the Huey. Very good show.

We didn't know much about the opening act. Kenny Wayne Shepherd opened that night. I had heard Blue on Black, but nothing else of his. We ended up liking his show a lot. I'd say we're both pretty big fans now. Rob has been into blues for a while (he found some Fat Possum Records CDs when we moved my brother).

We did discover a rather interesting fact while watching Noah Hunt, the singer with Kenny Wayne Shepherd.

That Noah Hunt is actually Ty. Because... well... LOOK!

Thank you "your honor" (in big hand quotes) our defense rests.

He came up with a great solution.
Rob said, "It's like stalactite and stalagmite. It should be stalactite and 'big fucking pointy thing coming up from the ground'."

We didn't come up with a new one for the mitosis vs. meiosis thing... we were laughing too hard.

I know I don't update very often... but I'm super ticked right now.

Rob and I got Circuit City gift cards for Christmas, so we went there tonight... we didn't want to wait until all the good stuff is gone.

We decided to get a PSP and the game God of War: Chains of Olympus. I LOVED the first two GOW games, so I'm super excited to play this one...

Only when we get home and open it up... instead of God of War... we get a nasty scratched up NBA Live 07 game. We immediately called Circuit City, just to be told "Sorry, our hands are tied, you can try calling corporate" over and over. No exchanges, no returns... even if you are the victim of fraud. Awesome.

I am SO MAD! They suggested calling Sony, who said it's Circuit City's problem. Even more awesome. At least the Sony people listened to Rob and they're letting us send it in and "plead our case" to see if they'll give us a new one. No promises there either.

Seriously. We are going to get screwed out of $40 because some jackass thought it would be funny to return a different nasty broken game. Thanks. I hope some sort of karma comes back to bite them on the ass someday.

It really is Circuit City's problem... but because the company is going out of business they just don't care. GRRRRRRRR!

Even the guy at Sony said, "Hey, no wonder they're going out of business."

Now I have a worthless PSP until I can either get the one I should rightfully have... or have to pay for another copy. Grrrrrrrrr... rrr.

Honeymoon Update

I have a few minutes here on the Honeymoon... so I'll update!

So far... the honeymoon could use a little help. We drove all the way to New Jersey yesterday (10 hour drive plus stops). We were almost to Philly when we hit a traffic jam at midnight. We're still not sure what happened... I think a semi got in an accident and caught fire... but traffic was stopped in both directions for an hour.
The directions we had were perfect... until New Jersey. Signs said different things... the roads are confusing. We got fairly lost for a while. We ended up in what seemed like a not so nice part of town being patrolled by cops. Then with help from the hotel on the phone we finally found our hotel... only to have to go past it. Apparently you're not allowed to turn left on this street... at all. They forgot to mention that they aren't ambiturners here in New Jersey. We went quite a way with "no turn" signs at every intersection, so we couldn't even pull a modified Michigan left! Finally we just broke the law and did a U-turn. Horray for no cops on that street.
Once we got to the hotel we find out that the king bed room that we reserved and pre-paid for isn't available. I had called earlier in the day to say we'd be late, and they said they wouldn't give our room away. But they did.
The night supervisor, James Brown (seriously!) was incredibly rude and ended up putting us in a really crappy "standard" bed room. The hotel is under construction (a fact they failed to put online) and he gave us an unfinished room! AHHHHH!
Also, since we got a special deal online they already have our money... and there are no refunds. So we had to stay. Whatever.

Today started out better. We talked to the hotel personnel today who were very apologetic and switched us to the correct room right away. So much nicer. It actually has all the furniture it's supposed to... and a BIG BED!
We had lunch at a Chick-fil-A (Yeah Beki!!!) which was very good. McD's totally stole the idea for the southern style chicken from them.

We decided to head over to Philly on the train. Simple enough. We get to the train station, which is across the street... but took us forever to get to because there are NO LEFT TURNS ANYWHERE!!! AHHHHHHHHHH! Once there we bought our tickets at 1:50. Then we checked on when the next train would come (we really should have looked first). The next train was at 3:52. Urgh. So we went back to the hotel to figure out the train/bus situation and look up a nice place in Philly to have dinner.
So we had a plan, tickets, and know how to get to the station. We were ready for the train at 3:40, as were a ton of other people.
The train slid in at 3:50 and let a bunch of people off. The conductors were telling people to stand back while the other riders got off the train. So we stood back. No one got on the train. The conductors were still giving the "stand back" signal with their hands and talking to each other. Then they just got back on the train, the doors closed... and they left.
There were about 10 of us all standing there going, "What the fuck?!?!!" Some guy who had sweat dripping off him had booked it over to make the train... he was SOOOO ticked. At this point Rob and I just walked away. We'd had it. The next train wasn't for another hour. We didn't really want to be in Philly at night. Not worth it.

So now we're just going to hit up the Red Hot & Blue restaurant (Aaron's suggestion) and then reward ourselves for not hurting any of the stupid people we have encountered by going for dessert at the Cheesecake Factory. Let's see if we can accomplish this.

But for now... Rob and I have decided New Jersey needs a new slogan. It's no longer the Garden State.

New Jersey... America's Asshole.

Congratulations to Matt and Melissa on baby Derek Robert!
I got to hold him last night and can honestly say he's perfect. He has the cutest blond hair. He's just too cute!

From one hospital room to another...

Congratulations to Nick and Jacki on baby Ruth Christine!!!
I also got to hold her last night (Oh yes, I'm a very lucky girl!)
She has perfect little "angel lips". She has lips just like a picture of a little cherub! She's way too cute too!!

Both moms looked fabulous! I'm so happy for them both! The dads were doing fine too and were very excited (obviously). Everyone was tired.
Two new families in two days! This is a GOOD WEEK!

I finally took a vacation day (I had to start, or I lose them...) and I did something FUN!

Rob, Nick and I went to Binder Park Zoo! It was amazing! I've been there before a couple of times (back when I did child care), but Rob and Nick were BPZ virgins.

We fed giraffes and goats... and saw ALL the animals. I took a bunch of pictures. I'll try to get them up soon... and there may or may not be a very inappropriate picture of Rob with an elephant.

Hehehe. Animals.

...I need to work at a zoo.

I'm sure you've all been looking forward to another year of GBH birthdays... and yes my friends that time has arrived again!

We're going to start out the weekend right!

Friday is Steve's birthday! We're going out to dinner at Los Tres Amigos at around 7pm on Friday. Anyone who would like to party down with some Ritas (or a virgin Rita for our non-drinking friends) should give me or Steve a call.

Other festivities will follow throughout the weekend.
Does anyone need/want, or know anyone who needs/wants kittens?

My brother found two kittens that were left at the side of the road in the swampy-marshy-gross-land near his house. There were other kittens about, but he couldn't find them... grrrrr. People suck. Don't just throw away perfectly good kitties.

So... they will be taken the either the animal shelter (not my first choice... they don't keep animals around long there...) or the Humane Society sometime this week. I would prefer to give them to someone so I know they're okay... so let me know if anyone knows of a home they can go to.

My brother says they're "tiger" like kittens who are litter trained.

I haven't actually seen them... because if I do... I'll never want to let them go.

Well... I'm finally leaving the nest.

Rob and I have an apartment!!!!!!! AHHHHHHHHHHEAAYEAHWOOTTTTTTTAHHHHHH!!!!

It's in a really good neighborhood... and has everything I could want. There's only one little downfall...

I can't have a cat. This is going to be a MAJOR adjustment. Seriously... I don't know what I'm going to do. The apartment is too good to pass up... but I NEEEEEEED to have cats around.

Oh well... I'm not going to think about that right now.

All I'm thinking about is MOVING!!! I've never had to really move all my stuff before. It's really hard! I've packed up a lot of stuff... and more stuff just keeps jumping out of corners! Where did I get all this STUFF?

So... yeah. If anyone wants to help a poor cat-less girl move all her stuff this weekend that would be GREAT!! It may rain... but... we'll deal. And I'll feed those who help...

Call my cell or old house... or Rob...

AHHHHHHHHH!!! MOVING!!!!

Now, one might think that being the release date I would be able to obtain the game that day.

WRONG!!!! When I went to pick up my copy the idiot clerk (he's an idiot all the time, not just because I'm angry...) told me that the "release date" is the date the game ships out... stores don't have it until 3/14/07.
He looked at me like I should have known this... moron.
